Clarity is Key
When drafting a position statement or witness statement for the family court, clarity and brevity are your best friends. Judges read dozens of statements a day. A concise, well-structured document that focuses entirely on the welfare of the child will be far more persuasive than a lengthy recounting of past grievances.
Stick to the facts, organize your points chronologically, use clear headings, and always cross-reference any evidence you are providing. Avoid emotive language and focus on proposing practical solutions.
